For those of you who don’t know me, I am Robin, a veteran, public school teacher in Florida. For the past 27 years I have taught Language Arts, English, Creative Writing, Journalism (Yearbook and Newspaper), Reading, Drama and Social Studies. I have always been a proud teacher and advocate for public schools, and I still am.
Over the course of my career, I have had the great honor of teaching and learning with many talented and honorable students. I have been blessed. The large majority of the teachers and administrators I have worked with are caring, hard-working people. Teaching is a work of art, and there are many great teacher-artists out there!
The cutie in the photo above is my granddaughter, my first and only grandchild. For now I will call her Baby Girl, or BG for short. Her father, my son Alex, is an 8th year Math teacher, also here in Florida but not in the same school system where I teach.
We (my son, my daughter-in-law, and I) have decided to homeschool BG. We actually made that decision before she was born. The reasons why are myriad and the subject of this blog. We would also like to engage in conversations with others who are on the same journey, share tips and strategies, and document the education of BG.
We are so excited about the future, and we hope you will come along with us. Please feel free to comment at any time, and please suggest future topics. Some of you will have great advice for us!
It all starts when you download the free substack app, enter your email and follow us! Thank you so much!

PS. If nothing else at all, you’ll see lots of pictures of my beautiful granddaughter!
Yay! I love this! Can’t wait to follow your blogging!
